Frugal fun

I don't know about you but I LOVE sheets!  There's nothing like clean sheets that have been air dried on the line (clothesline).  Yes,  I still prefer a clothesline.....it's therapeutic and saves $.    Well,  I'm pretty selective about sheets....I hate those that "ball" up after the first washing.  However, I really don't want to spend a hundred bucks for Egyptian, hotel, blaah colored sheets.  So, I am ON to the Better Homes and Garden sheets from Wal-Mart!  Yes, WAL-MART.  I was hesitant, but willing to try because of the great color selection.  I bought a set, laundered them and love them.  They are 60/40 Cotton Polyester blend.  I've had one set about 8 months and have since purchased two additional sets.  Check them out, I think you'll love the colors, price, and crisp cotton comfort!   angel

Finished!

I spent about an hour today organizing my binder.  I only spent about $4 for the supplies, and I love the result.  I will continue adding to the tabs as I come across meaningful articles and pics.  I will also add an additional tab entitled "Quotable quotes".

Organize mag articles & pics

OK.  Here is something I've done for years....when I find an inspirational article or picture in a magazine, even if it's not feasible at the current stage in my life, I tear out the page and save it in a folder.  I am now in the process of putting my collection of these inspirational articles and pictures in a 3 ring binder with tabs which include:  decorating ideas, health related , $ related, relationships, HAPPY.  Behind the HAPPY tab, I have accumulated paint colors, party ideas, anything that brings a big smile to my face and heart.  Now I have in one place, a great collection of wonderful ideas I've come across in the last 5 years; the magazines can now find a new home via thrift store or classroom.

Helpful ideas for today!

After washig and folding your bed sheets, store the sheet set inside one of the pillowcases!  It stores nice and tidy.

Chicken boullion cubes (2 or 3)
Onion, garlic
Sour cream
Cream cheese
1 pint 1/2 & 1/2 (you may need to add more if it's too thick for your liking)
Salt and pepper to taste.

Chop cilantro, onion, and garlic.  Saute in butter.  Add chicken boullion cu, 1 small carton sour cream, 1/2 block cream cheese, 1/2 & 1/2, and salt and pepper.  Stir slowly until cream cheese is melted. Simmer for about 20 minutes.   Tweak to your taste buds~enjoy

Thoughts for today....

This is my first blog so wish me luck!  I'm sitting in my home looking around at a few of my favorite things.  A common thread exists......none of my favorite things are perfect!  Whether it's my collection of Santa mugs, my beloved painting by Tissa, by dining room chair with cracks, or Lord only knows what else is around my home, I just absolutely love things that are imperfect.  This carries over in other areas of my life as well.....recipes that I've tried and tweaked because I didn't feel they tasted "just right", my housekeeping abilities and my desire to find shortcuts, my relationships, my job, my humor (which sometimes leaves my family embarrassed).  So, I thought I'd begin blogging and sharing some of my discoveries along the way.  I will turn 40 on Thursday, and thought this may be a perfect time to reflect, share, and laugh about some imperfections in my life!  Hope you enjoy.
